Winter
We are currently half way through January and the itch to get out in the garden is getting stronger. As winter drags on, planning the garden begins. So far I have drawn out the plans for my raised beds full of annuals and perennials. Next on the to do list is mapping out the dahlia patch. I have one more sale on February 1st and then I will be able to fully map out where each variety will go. I like to plant by height and rainbow. The visual aesthetic of seeing the color gradient brings me so much joy by the time all of the varieties are blooming. This year, I plan on planting my pompon and waterlily varieties throughout the lower beds to add a pop of color and beauty to the cottage gardens.
I used my larger soil blocker for the first time trying out lisianthus seeds and I’ve had a few germinate. I also started sowing cold hardy annuals like stock, snapdragons, foxglove, delphinium and my most favorite, sweet peas! They are all attempting to germinate in 72-cell trays under lights on my grow rack. I'm hoping for a few more successions of each to spread out the blooms for my bouquet subscriptions this spring and summer. If you are interested or have any questions about the bouquet subscriptions, feel free to message me! Up next for sowing in trays is canterbury bells, verbascum, feverfew and asters. Here's to a blossoming 2025,
Megan
